Mary Killay Lavayen

Mary’s passion is helping families in the DC metropolitan area to find the right school “fit” for their children. Before joining ISO in 2008, her experience included preparing high school students in Madrid, Spain for entrance to American high schools, acting as the Director of an elementary school in Chimbote, Peru and working at Georgetown University’s Center for Intercultural Education & Development in many roles, including as a School Placement Specialist.
Mary is an active member of her three children’s independent school communities. She has an interest in both diversity issues and the needs of the gifted. She is currently the DC liaison for SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted.)
Mary holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, a Master’s degree in International Management from the School for International Training’s Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, Vermont, and an ICF-accredited Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University. Mary is an Associate Member of IECA and WISER. Mary, her husband and three middle school and high school-aged children live in Falls Church with their shitzu, Violet.
