Mary Killay Lavayen

Mary Killay Lavayen has been helping families in the DC metropolitan area to find the right school “fit” for their children since 2008. Previously, Mary worked at Georgetown University’s Center for Intercultural Education & Development (CIED) for over 15 years on a USAID-funded scholarship program.  At CIED Georgetown, she held many roles, including school placement specialist and Assistant Director of Overseas Operations. She also worked at The Foundation Ponce de Leon in Madrid, Spain preparing Spanish students for the American high school and assisting with US college placement.  In addition, she worked in Arlington County, VA public schools. Mary is active in her children’s independent school community. 

 

Mary holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, a Master’s degree in International Management from the School for International Training’s Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, Vermont, and an ICF-accredited Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University. She is also fluent in Spanish.

 

Mary is the current DC liaison for Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG), a member of Washington Independent Services for Educational Resources (WISER) and a professional member of IECA

 

Mary, her husband and three children:  two high school-aged  and a freshman at UVA,  live in Falls Church, VA with their shih tzu, Violet.
